The Science and Technology Information System Centre (STISC), a key centre of the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), was established in October 2024. It represents a pioneering effort by the academy to manage and develop a knowledge and information base for Science and Technology (S&T), which is essential for shaping national S&T policies. The centre is responsible for collecting, managing, and distributing information related to scientific research, technological advancements, and innovations to support policymakers to make informed decisions. Its goal is to serve as a national repository for scientific data, research outcomes, technical reports, publications, and other pertinent information while also acting as a national overseer to uphold research integrity and scientific publication ethics in Nepal. However, the centre's scope does not extend to managing the daily operational and administrative data of NAST, which typically falls under the domain of the Management Information System (MIS) for business analysis, performance monitoring, and decision-making. Nevertheless, the STISC is committed to supporting the MIS of NAST by providing data on the status of S&T infrastructure and capacity in the country.

         Intellectual Property Right
         Technology Forecasting
         Statistical Analysis
         Spatial Data Analysis, Training and Research
         S&T Policy Research
         Ethical Issues and Governance
         Training on Information System
         Information Study and Analysis for Industrial Activities and Management

Currently, the centre houses the following four centres of the academy as its major key divisions.
i)    Nepal Climate Change Knowledge Management Centre (NCCKMC)
ii)    Information Access Centre (IAC)
iii)    Electronic Database  and Information Centre (EDIC)
iv)    Library and Documentation Centre

In the near future, the centre intends to launch a national database platform (virtual hub) to manage national S&T data, along with providing services for plagiarism and AI content checking. Additionally, it plans to integrate AI in generating scientific data on various domains and minimize the digital gaps across the country.
