Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) is an autonomous body established by a Royal Charter in 1982 and was later replaced by an Act of Parliament in
1992. NAST is an independent apex body established for the advancement of Science and Technology through research & development, innovation, and popularization for the overall development of the nation. The Academy has a mandate to advise the Government of Nepal on S&T programs and policies. It carries out its functions through the Faculties of Science & Technology and R&D Centres with support of its Promotion and Administrative Divisions.
NAST was established with the vision of an overall development of the country propelled by Science and Technology. To ensure the vision, the Academy has been entrusted with four main objectives:

NAST conducts research in collaboration with national and international agencies through its faculties of Science and Technology and R&D Centres. Research, innovation and technology transfer related activities embraces wide range of S&T arena.
