Innovation and Simulation Laboratory
The Innovation and Simulation Laboratory under the Faculty of Technology is more than just a research space, it is a place where ideas take shape and innovation becomes reality. For many years, the faculty has been actively nurturing a culture of creativity and problem-solving through both competitive grant calls and in-house research initiatives.
With a strong focus on emerging and advanced technologies, the laboratory brings together researchers, engineers, students, and innovators to work collaboratively on solutions that address real-world challenges in Nepal.
The laboratory is equipped with both Mechanical and Electronics Labs, providing the necessary tools, equipment, and technical environment to design, build, and test innovative solutions.

Past Activities
The laboratory has carried out several important projects supported by NAST and internal initiatives. Some of the major works include:
• Development of pesticide spraying drones for agriculture
• Design and testing of medical drones for essential supply delivery
• Development of Yantrika, an AI-based robot during the COVID-19 pandemic
• Preparation of disinfectant systems and safety devices during the pandemic
• Development of early warning systems for landslides, floods, and forest fires
• Design of a tomato picking robot, electric triller for commercial farming
• Conversion of petrol vehicles into electric vehicles (EVs)
• Other innovative prototypes and technology development works
These activities are focused on solving local problems using appropriate and affordable technology.
Current Activities
The laboratory is currently working on the following areas:
• Development of a low-cost evaporative cooling system for storage of fruits and vegetables
• Implementation of Learning-by-Doing STEAM training programs for school science teachers
• Establishment of an IPR and Patent Help Desk in coordination with the Department of Industry and World Intellectual Property Organization
• Support to national goals of the 16th Five-Year Plan for increasing innovation and patent numbers
• Upgradation of the National Innovation Digital Network (NIDN) as a national database for innovators
• Establishment of a Makerspace to support students and innovators with workspace and technical guidance
• Identification of technical problems of farmers and development of practical solutions and products
We aim to build a vibrant innovation ecosystem where technology, creativity, and collaboration come together to drive sustainable development and inspire the next generation of innovators in Nepal.
