Dr. Lok Ranjan Bhatt

Dr. Lok Ranjan Bhatt is a Chief Scientific Officer at the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology
(NAST). His area of interest is interdisciplinary research that links botany with natural products
and biomaterials. His ongoing research is focused on the nutritional analysis and value addition
of commercially important wild food plants. He is also involved in the preparation of packaging materials with application potential in food and beverages. Dr. Bhatt aims to develop value-added products from nutrient-rich and technically feasible wild edible fruits that generate income and employment opportunities at the local level.

Dr. Bhatt completed a Master's Degree in Botany from Tribhuvan University in 1996 and was
awarded a Ph.D. in Natural Product Development from Wonkwang University, Korea, in 2007. He
worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Vestibulocochlear Research Center, School of Medicine
and Department of Bionanochemistry, Wonkwang University, Korea. He mentors post-graduate students and young scientists. He has published more than 50 scientific papers in various peer- reviewed journals. Dr. Bhatt is contributing as an editorial board member and as a reviewer in various journals.
